Course Objective

The aim of the lesson is to make Film Design and Directing students comprehend the script which is the main element of the film and also to make them learn and understand the writing techniques.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   The outcome of the lesson for the students is to have a general knowledge about the structure of the script.
2   The outcome of the lesson for the students is know and carry out the process of script writing which includes the idea of the film, plot, the story of the film, synopsis, tretman.
3   The outcome of the lesson for the students is to have the academical and theoretical knowledge about the process of melodrama which includes incident, storyline, character, conflict, dialog, the structure and to have the skill to carry out all these steps.
4   The students will have the ability to write their own scripts. The students will have the full knowledge of script writing in order to realise the mistakes of a written script or they will have the full knowledge if the script is worth to make a film.

1 1. Introduction. To inform the students about the lesson. Suggesting textbooks.
2 2. Discussions are made about the story, plot, genre of scripts of the students' short films.
3 3. What is dramatical conflict What does it mean for the cinema
4 4. Discussions about storyline, story, narration.
5 5. About the setups of time and space in the script.
6 6. Practice, scene setups, writing scene and squence.
7 7. Reading and evaluating the works of students, discussing the revisions.
8 8. Reading and evaluating the works of students, discussing the revisions.
9 9. Analysing and practising the character and space which support the story of the film.
10 10. Analysing and practising the character and space which support the story of the film.
11 11. Studying dialogue setups. Writing dialogues in regards to the character, studying the development of sub-text in the dialogue.
12 12. Studying the dialogue setups. Writing dialogues in regards to the character, studying the development of sub-text in the dialogue.
13 13. Practising writing to revise the tretmans.
14 14. Evaluating the projects and assignments of the students. General evaluation of the term.

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

1.The academical and theoretical information about the script and the process of script writing is lectured.
2. The discussions are made by critisizing the film script samples and materials such as scripts, film, documentaries, interviews e.t.c.)
3.The objective is to improve the writing skills of the students by practising.

Assessment Criteria

The students are supposed to use their script knowledge which they 've learned in the class, and to hand in assignments which are proper for the script writing. The asssessments and evaluations of the lesson consist of submission of the projects, submission of homework and attendance to lesson.
