From it's first days Hollywood cinema affected all national cinemas of the world and let there exist a film style called mainstream cinema. thus the narrative that is solely belongs to Hollywood determines the audience anticipation and perception. the objective of the course is to analyse the genres of Hollywood and mainstream cinema and study their idological and political aspects.. If the Hollywood cinema is an IMPACT on other national cinema styles, these styles gave birth to different RESPONSES. therefore, to understand these responses broadly, the students have to understand the impact that creates repsonses.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   to comprehend the major ideological respects of Hollywood cinema
2   to gain the ability to determine the historical relations between mainstream cinema genres and Hollywood cinema
3   to gain the ability to determine de socio-cultural, politics and ideological connections of the era that the Hollywood films represent
4   to comprehend the contradictions and conflicts between the conceptions of Hollywood and non-Hollywood cinema / mainstream and non-mainstream cinema
5   to comprehend the connections between, at least on a periodic basis, global history and US history.
6   to gain knowledge about the historical necesitties that creates modern cinema.
