Course Objective

The aim of this course is to provide students with definiton, evolution, methods, types, causes and objectives of modern terrorism via both theories and case studies. The course will provide an understanding on national, regional and international dimensions of terrorism, its impacts on international security and states attempts to fight with terrorism.

Assessment Criteria

1. Students will define modern terrorism and identify its evolution
2. Students will define political and social causes of modern terrorism
3. Students will evaluate states methods to cope with with terrorism
4. Students will present case studies
5. Students will conduct research in order to prepare oral/written studies

1. 70% attendance is compulsory.
2. Plagiarism of any kind will result with disciplinary action.
3. Students are supposed to read all the articles and book chapters assigned for the week before coming to class and to be active in class discussions.
