Course Objective

The aim of this course is to provide the students with the abilities and competences in measuring, calculating and evaluating environmental noise with the aid of environmental noise standarts. The students will also have the ability of properly preparing reports of the analysis results in the official formats.

1   Calculate emission according to the relevant standards,
2   Calculate environmental noise level,
3   Understand and apply necessary analysis methods for highways, railroads and airways,
4   Create noise maps and reports.
5   Have solid knowledge in relevant standards and regulations.

Further Notes About Assessment Methods

The class will be held giving relevant examples, basic concepts, calculations and evaluations with regard to the relevant regulations. Field measurements will be made and the analysis will be prepared in written format as specified in the regulations.

Course Policies and Rules

Class participation, active involvement in class, problem solving skills, active participation in the applications and skills in evaluating the results are the main requirements for the course. Late arrivals after the first ten minutes will not be permitted and the student will be considered as not available. The course will be held in 2+1=3 hour sessions and in the same day.
