Course Objective

To examine developments in the Middle East in conceptual and historical framework and
to display current situation in the context of existent problems

1   To be able to familiarize the Middle East region and to realize its place in the world politics
2   To be able to apprehend socio-economic and cultural structure in the Middle East region
3   To be able to apprehend developments in the Middle East from the beginning of the 20th century to nowadays

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

To review the weekly subjects together with the students after the subjects are reoutlined
by the lecturer, based on the pre-course reading process done by the students,
and also to encourage the students to make a short presentation on a subject they
prefer during the semester (if possible).

It is obligated to continue to at least 70% of lessons. The instructor has right to
