To develop students acting skills by applying activities in repertoire familiarization; situation, sense and character creation; and brainstorming and conversation studies to selected opera scenes.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   This course may help develop a better understanding of dramaturgy and character creation
2   Improvement of acting skills through the performance of stage works
3   Enhancement of general repertoire knowledge through exposure to different operas
4   The influence of the epoch on the characters played may be observed
5   The skills to compare the difference between stage management techniques may be enhanced

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

The teaching method is applied with a personalized approach, and `one-to-one teaching methods are implemented. Throughout the semester, an opera piece is given to each student in order for him/her to interpret this with musical accompaniment. The student is first asked to make a pre-study of the plot, character, period and place associations. Then the piece is practiced with piano accompaniment on stage.
