Course Objective

The course objective is to make students comprehend what it means to be an individual and help them with self recognition/self awareness. It also aims to provide guidance to benefit from psychology in evaluating and criticizing the interrelations among the artist, the perceiver and the artwork itself.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   to discuss/debate fundamental principals pertaining to art and psychology.
2   to benefit from psychology to analyze and see the connections between art, the artist, the perceiver, and the artwork.
3   to analyze the relationship between basic psychological approaches and art.
4   to improve analytical skills in terms of self recognition/self awareness.
5   to be able to benefit from Psychology of Art as a critical approach to art and any related subject.

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

Course is not geared towards memorization but rather encourages students to debate among themselves with examples and analyzation, including visual and verbal communication. Students are to develop critical thinking and analyzing skills based on reading materials. Students are required to participate actively in class and attend presentations.
