Course Objective

Piano: to improve student s piano techniques and provide perception of musical elements of the different ages of Western Art Music (Baroque, Classic , Romantic and 2O.Century), Contemporary Turkish Music and genres including jazz, Blues and Pop Music and also it is aimed to gain creativity and distinctiveness of piano playing.

Other instruments:To be able to perform at least 1 instrument in a vocalizible level with tonal (guitar, etc.) or modal/maqam (baglama, oud, classical kemancha) charachteristics.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Perform minimum 1 instrument in a vocalizible level with tonal (piano,guitar, etc.) or modal/maqam (baglama, oud, classical kemancha) charachteristics.
2   Identify the different performing styles in different music genres and play with the choosen instrument.
3   Play the choosen instrument correctly to the technical capabilities(posibilities,features ) of the instrument.
4   Refer to the notes and show them on the choosen instrument.
5   Indicate the key and maqam scales on the choosen instrument.
6   Play the performed songs properly to the required metronom.
7   Perform the required nuances for the performed song.

1 Piano: Deciding piano piece for suitible level. Synthesizer: Revision of Synthesizer II. Bass: Walking bass. Guitar: Major Scales and Diatonic Harmony.
2 Piano: Practicing the pieces. Scales an arpeggios. Synthesizer:Touch sensitivity and polyphony. Bass: Composing walking bass. Guitar: Major Scale Positions, Triads and Arpeggios
3 Piano: Practicing etudes and octave scales toward piano pieces. Synthesizer:Touch sensitivity and polyphony. Bass: Composing walking bas: Sound relations in bass. Guitar: Major Scale Shapes and Exercises
4 Piano: Piano pedals, age and sylistic features of piano pieces. Synthesizer:Analogue synthesizer structure and technical properties. Bass: Performing sample songs and bass line practice. Guitar: Minor Scales, Harmonic, Melodic, Real Melodic Minors
5 Piano: Tempos and dynamics of pieces. Syntesizer: Sound generation in synthesizer. Bass: Performing sample songs and bass line practice. Guitar: Minor Scale Positions, Triads and Arpeggios
