Course Objective

This class aims to discuss and inform the students -by mentioning the prominent people and institutions- about the stages of the development of Turkish painting from a Western point of view, during the period between the enunciation of Tanzimat and the enunciation of the Turkish Republic.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   The students taking this class, are expected to have a renewed interest in studies about the recent history, comprehend the fact that historical data is a field of study that nourishes the willpower of synthesis.
2   embrace Turkish painting as a formation of contemporary art and a phenomenon of visual culture.
3   to identify Turkish art with the historical, social and culturel data about the development of Turkish society.
4   comprehend that recent history is a field of information that characterizes itself within the course of being individual and original.
5   know that the relationship between form and meaning that comes up in their own work, is to be based within the frame of tradition in art applications, with a knowledge of art history, and within the context of intellectual and sociological data.
