Course Objective

The aim of this course is to define and discuss the new media. The new media history, the synchronized position of the new media with real world, the relationship between new media and the cyber culture, the meaning and significance of the social media will be evaluated with examples from a critical perspective.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Will be able to define new media concept, to be able to see transformation in historical perspective, to be able to define sub-components of the concept
2   Will have ability to relate new media and communication concepts and contents
3   Will have ability to establish relations of communication, information, creativity and virtuality
4   Will evaluate the techniques of the new media concept, the transformation of the interactive nature of art
5   Can explain media mass culture, popular culture, virtual culture associations and their functions
