Course Objective

It is aimed that the students will be able to transmit their works into the final material under the light of technical information and will be able to manage the whole process.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   will be able to plan the sculpture works by stipulating the technical process,
2   will possess information related to the materials,
3   will possess information related to the mould techniques,
4   will be able to transmit the applications into the final materials by using the technical information,
5   will be able to discover the mould techniques in also different design areas.

Course Contents

1 Theoretical information related to the statue mould techniques and importance
2 Introduction of the mould techniques and materials used at the present day
3 A Relief application for the plaster mould and making the plaster mould of the relief model
4 Casting of the relief model to the plaster mould and opening
5 Bust model making and moulding for the plaster blasting mould technique and moulding
6 Briefing about alginate material.
7 Hand and foot mold making application with alginate material.
8 Briefing on rubber material.
9 Molding application from medallion / relief with rubber material.
10 Molding from three-dimensional model with liquid silicone material and casting application with poly urethane material.
11 Purchase of molds with silicone material and casting application with different materials.
12 Briefing on multi-production molds with liquid silicone material.
13 Casting application with different materials with the production mold received.
14 Briefing about model leveling after molding/casting.
15 Leveling applications on models of different materials after molding / casting.
16 Briefing about the production of molds with the pattern.
17 Production of plaster mold with plaster duplicator mold.
18 Production of polyester mold with plaster duplicator mold.
19 Briefing and application of the molded ceramic mold with plaster material.

Technical equipment (wooden and rubber hammer, chisel set , spatula, plastic basin, mould separating materials, etc.)

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

Theoretical information is given related to the mould techniques (Plaster mould, fiber mould, silicon mould, etc.) into which statues or many materials which are three-dimensionally designed can be transmitted. Technical information is transferred by moulding the students works into the final materials by means of materials such as plaster, polyester, silicon in an applied way in the workshops of the department of sculpture.
The student tries all the technical process on his own application and solves the problems he/she encounters under the guidance of the lecturer.
