Course Contents

1 Type of the fire and fire chemistry
2 Protection from the fire and firefighting equipment
3 Precautions of preventing from the fire, Especially, focusing on the organization, tactics and control, firefighting methods at the sea and ports
4 Firefighting with water, its effects on the ship stability, precautions and corrective methods, Coordination during the firefighting, Including, smoke preventers the control of air conditioning
5 The control of fuel and electric systems, Threats which occur during the firefighting (dry distillation, chemical reactions, boiler-funnel fires, the firefighting about dangerous goods.
6 Fire precautions about storage and handling of materials, Control and management of injured people,
7 Coordination methods with shore fire brigade
8 Necessities about flag state and class surveys, Preparation of unexpected situation plans
9 The structure of fire team s personnel and determining their location
10 Organization of fire drill
11 Firefighting systems
12 Fire detection systems, Stationary fire extinguisher systems
13 Portable and moving fire extinguisher systems (apparatuses, pumps, lifesaving, life support, personal protective equipment including, firefighting equipment). Including fuel fires, firefighting methods for all types of fire

Assessment Criteria

PO - LO matrices were created and the evaluation method was determined for each PO. Students are expected to have an average success rate of 60 or above for each LO. In addition, in the course evaluation surveys, the program outcomes in the course objectives are expected to be 4 or above.
