Course Objective

In this course, it is aimed to understand the needs of the individual with chronic disease by using specific models and develop strategies for her/his care.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Describe the health care needs of the adult individual with chronic disease by using the theorerical frame.
2   Use critical thinking skills while sustaining the nursing care process of the individual with chronic disease.
3   Solve the ethical problems related with the care of the individual with chronic disease, in line with ethical principles
4   Assess and solve organizational problems, which ease or prevent the care of chronic diseases
5   Create new ideas and methods by applying cooperation strategies between the organizations for the care of the individual with chronic disease
6   Formülate strategies for the prevention or decrease of chronic diseases.

Assessment Criteria

Presentation skill of the student, her/his preparation to the subject and participation in discussions will be assessed as the midterm exam.
Her/his examination of nursing studies related with the management process of a chronic disease, as well as the explanation and report of how she/he uses the nursing concepts in three selected studies will be assessed as homework.
The skills of interpretation, decision making, explanation and knowledge combination will be assessed in the final exam.
