Course Objective

This practice course ensures the students to acquire skill and experience in managing the preoperative, intraoperative and postoperative nursing care of patients related to their doctorate thesis topics in line with the nursing theory/model that they base their advanced knowledges and theses and by using the evidence-based resources, guides and technology.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Students use the advanced level and current information that they gain in the nursing care of the patient group related to their thesis topics.
2   They use evidence-based practices, recommendations of the evidence-based guides and technology in the nursing care of the patient group related to their thesis topics.
3   They carry out the care of a patient related to the thesis topic on the basis of a nursing model.
4   They report the patient that they provide car efor as a case study by synthesizing and analyzing the nursing model related to the thesis topic
5   They convey the evidence-based information and care interventions that they learn to the nursing care.
6   They apply the patient and employee safety principles during the clinical practice.
7   They are sensitive towards legal and ethical issues during clinical practice.

Further Notes About Assessment Methods

1. Students become experienced in nursing care of the case group that they deal with in the first and second blocks of this practice course and evaluates critically. They manage the care of this group by using technology in line with recommendations of evidence-based guides. They collect the data of the patients that they provide care based on the nursing model used in this practice, evaluate them in-depth, implement the interventions that they plan and write reports. Students determine their own learning requirements and create the learning targets and strategies, present these to the advisor and discuss them.
2. Students put into practice the learning targets that they determined previously in the third block of the practice course. At the end of the practice, they evaluate their developments in the light of their learning targets and report their acquisitions in the process of thesis practice. Following the practice, they prepare an article containing the case analysis and care management of the patient interviewed in-depth in APA format.
3. In the final exam, the abilities of interpreting, remembering, taking a decision, explaining, classifying and combining the information will be evaluated.

Assessment Criteria

Case management and analysis of the students in the practice and their ability of synthesizing the case with the learned information will be evaluated.
