Course Objective

Objective of this course is to inform the students about patient care management in operating room, current practices in the operating room, patient and employee safety and ethical principles and legal procedures in line with national and international standards as well as evidence-based guides and manuals.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Students discuss the patient care management.
2   They explain current practices in the operating room.
3   They interrogate patient and employee safety in the operating room.
4   They explain legal and ethical issues related to the operating room.
5   They evaluate the effect of medical treatment and nursing care in the operating room.

-Presentation skill of the student, preparation to the topic and participation in the discussions will be evaluated.
-In the final exam, the abilities of interpreting, remembering, taking a decision, explaining, classifying and combining the information will be evaluated.
(Each student is responsible of preparing, presenting and reporting his/her own topic in line with the latest literature and evidence-based resources and guides. It is expected that homeworks and reports are prepared in APA format in computer.)

Assessment Criteria

- In the final exam, the abilities of interpreting, remembering, taking a decision, explaining, classifying and combining the information will be evalauted.
