Course Objective

Understanding of the functional elements in the genome and the genome

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Discusses the concepts of life and biosystems
2   Evaluates molecular and cellular mechanisms important for life and development of organisms
3   Interprets basic molecular and cellular mechanisms related diseases
4   Discusses the flow of genetic information conceptually, specifying detailed mechanisms
5   Explains mutation and disease connections recounting detailed mechanisms
6   Evaluates the interactive relationships between heredity, genotype and phenotype
7   Evaluate and draws conclusions on genetic and epigenetic mechanisms that play a role in disease development
8   Comprehends the basic knowledge underlying the latest techniques of molecular biology
9   Masters up to date bioinformatics knowledge related to his/her field
10   Compares and evaluates the latest methodologies in the fields of molecular biology, cellular biology and genetics
11   Demonstrates sufficient ability in reaching information sources and transferring the knowledge to different fields
12   Follows and interprets latest developments and literature in his/her own area of research
13   Gathers, evaluates and interprets information from different sources
14   Effective prepares and presents scientific data
