Course Objective

To learn about general characteristics of stem cells, types of stem cells and their potential in regenerative medicine

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To be able to define stem cell (B2) and types of stem cells, and discuss about features of different types of stem cell
2   To get know about properties of Embriyonic stem cells and their origins; to explain how to get ESC lines
3   To be able to discuss therapeutic and reproductive cloning
4   To describe general features of Adult Stem cell and discuss their advantages and disadvantages with respect to therapeutic usage
5   To be able to discuss about induced Stem Cells (iPSC) and the principle of iPSC methodology; to explain the epigenetic reprogramming behind iPSC
6   To discuss stem-cell based therapies
7   Literature discusssion
