Course Objective

this course aims to apprehend how we can benefit from rhetoric in the analysis of discourse and in the analysis of text by acquiring the necessary knowledge about rhetoric.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Acquiring knowledge about short history of rhetoric.
2   Learning what the basic parts of rhetoric are.
3   Acquiring knowledge about types of different discourse.
4   Learning what the argumentation is and learning how many types of argumentation there are.
5   Acquiring necessary knowledge about how we benefit from rhetoric in the foreign language teaching.

1 Rhetoric and history of rhetoric
2 parts of rhetoric(inventio, elepitio ,actio ,memoria, narration)
3 Types of discourse ( epidictic judiciary ,deliberative )
4 Description ( semantic description, vocabulary description, figures of idea, figures of construction)
5 Argumentative rhetoric( logos, ethos, patos)
6 Evaluation of discourse containing logos
7 Evaluation of discourse containing pathos
8 Mid-term
9 Evaluation of discourse containing ethos
10 Practices about argumentation
11 Semi-logical argumentation, visual argumentation, argumentation of bad belief, argumentations on influence
12 Rhetoric and examination of rhetoric
13 Evaluation of textbooks by rhetorical point of view
14 Evaluation of rhetoric arts in the textbooks.
15 Final
