Course Objective

The course aims to teach the manner of artists handling of the primary issues the ancient Greek mythology. During the course the depictions of Greek myths seen in pottery, sculpture, painting, mosaic and coins will be discussed in detail.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To explain the depictions associated with Zeus in the works of art
2   To identify the mythological depictions of Greek vase painting
3   To identify the mythological stories in sculpture
4   To explain the popular myths in the art of mosaics
5   To determine stories related Troia in the works of art
6   To explain the Anatolian mithoi such as Niobe or Marsyas in the context of depictions in the works of art
