Course Objective |
The course aims to teach reflections of changes of the social and political life in ancient time on coins through detail examination of different types of Greek and Roman coins. Regional and historical change of the coins and typologies will be discussed. Meanwhile, coins of city-states i.e Ephesos, Smyrna, Klazomenai or coinage of Hellenistic kingdoms such as of Pergamon and of Bithynia will be examined in detail. The course covers the development and the characteristics of the Roman imperial coins too. Especially coinage of Traian and Hadrian are carefully examined. |
