Course Objective

Within the scope of this course, it is aimed to give information about the contributions of Troy, which is the most important Bronze Age settlement of Northwest Anatolia, to Anatolian Archeology.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Examination of the excavation history and stratification of Troy.
2   Learning the expantion and interaction of Troia culture in Western Anatolia and Aegean Islands.
3   Making comparisons between Troia and the centers in Western Anatolia and Aegean Islands in chronological terms.
4   Understanding the place and importance of Troy, especially in the Bronze Age Aegean world.
5   Evaluating the subject of the Trojan War together with archaeological and historical records as well as mythology.

1 General introduction of the course, the skill format required from the students and explanation of bibliography.
2 Giving information about the geographical location of Troia.
3 Giving information about the excavation and research history of Troia and the Troas Region (partially Biga Peninsula).
4 Giving information about the excavation and research history of Troia and the Troas Region (partially Biga Peninsula).
5 Evaluation of the Early Bronze Age layers of Troy.
6 Evaluation of the Middle Bronze Age layers of Troy.
7 Evaluation of the Late Bronze Age layers of Troy.
8 Midterm
9 Iron Age transition and Iron Age settlements in Troy and its surroundings.
10 The contribution of Troy to Anatolian Archeology in terms of excavations and research.
11 The contribution of Troy to Anatolian Archeology in terms of EBA culture.
12 The contribution of Troy to Aegean Archeology in terms of Middle Bronze Age culture.
13 Contribution of Troy to Aegean Archeology in terms of Late Bronze Age culture.
14 Troia and the Aegean Islands.
