Course Objective

An important cultural material of the invention takes place, especially in the Eastern Mediterranean ancient glass production, trade and cultural relations with the interpretation of the framework.

3   Learning centers of glass production.
4   Along with other cultural materials to evaluate the glass.

Course Contents

Week Subject Description
1 Written sources for the production of glass.
2 Glass production techniques, raw material supply in the 3th and 2nd millenium B.C.
3 Glass production techniques, raw materials and trade in the 1st millenium B.C.
4 Wrecks and chronologies relating to the trading of glass.
5 Glass production techniques in the Hellenistic period.
6 The presence of glass blowing techniques and associated written resources.
7 Glass-manufacturing centers in the 1st century B.C. and 1st century A.D. and the glass areas.
8 MIDTERM EXAMS
9 Glass production, form, repertoire, traveling craftsmen, large workshops inthe 2nd century A.D. and Anatolian glass area.
10 Glass production status in the 3rd century A.D., changes in the form repertoire.
11 Period of decline in the production of glass and causes: 4th century A.D.
12 Glass production in the 5th-7th century : New forms and new effects.
13 Byzantine Glass Art
14 Byzantine Glass Lamps
15 European Glass Art in the Middle Age
16 FINAL EXAM
