Course Objective

To study the kinds of architectural ornaments and their examples that seen in Anatolian Seljuks, Beyliks and Ottoman perods; to recognise some stylistic features in Turkish decorative arts and calligraphy by examining tile art, calligraphy and other handicrafts.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Students learn basic conceptions and literature related to Turkish decorative arts and calligraphy.
2   Recognise the ornamental features of some works in Anatolian Seljuks, Beyliks and Ottoman periods
3   Get know decoration vocabulary of Turkish Islamic Art and their practices area.
4   Explain the distinctive stylistic differences related to architectural ornaments and handicrafts
5   Gains the ability to research in his field.
