Course Objective

To teach and gain ability to apprehend and comment the students within the context of methodology of History discipline by taking into account the fact that Anatolian Turkish history composes the large part of Muslim Turkish history center;
1. The sources related to history of Anatolia, the conquest of Anatolia by Turks, and the process of the Turkification and Islamization of Anatolia;
2. How to use the main historical sources of Seljukids State of Türkiye, Anatolian Bayliks, and the foundation of Ottoman State, and so the Turlish-Islamic civilization in Anatalia;
3. to scientifically analyze, interpret and compose and to have a different perspective for the political, military, religious, social, economic, cultural and civic issues of the certain periods;
4. and by doing so, to give a perspective for thinking on the dissertation and to create sensitivity and motivation for students those who finish the program to gain ability to create ideas, comments, and suggestions for the understanding and resolution of political, religious, social, academic, and cultural problems faced by Turkish nation and Islamic Turkish world.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Student, at the end of the semester, will; be able to follow the Turkification of Anatolia in chronological framework
2   learn the history, civilization and cultures of Anatolian Seljukids and Anatolians Bayliks from main and reliable sources and so make objective evaluations on Anatolian Turkish history, and comprehend their status and importance in Anatolian history and culture
3   have knowledge on the elements serving in the process of Turkification and Islamization of Anatolia and their political, military, religious, social, and cultural activities and roles
4   evaluate and analyze by learning the cirumstances and dynamics making possible the foundation and becoming state of the Ottomans
5   be able to correctly understand and interpret some political, religious, and cultural problems of modern Turkish society by focusing on the background of these problems within the framework of this course.
