Course Objective

The aim of this course is to make student cognizent of scope and place of philosophy in Ottoman Thought. The student by understanding Ottoman Thought will see and evaluate the importance of Ottoman thought in comprehending turkish thought

1   The student will learn the place, scope and limits of Ottoman Thought
2   The student will learn basic sources of Ottoman thought
3   The student will learn the development and stages of Ottoman thought
4   The student will realize the schools and methods of Ottoman thought
5   The student will learn the contributions made by Ottoman thinkers to the Islamic Thought
6   The student will realize tehafut debates in Ottoman period.
7   The student will learn 18. Century European thought and its enterence to Ottoman Empire.

Further Notes About Assessment Methods

The students will gain knowledge about the place, scope, stages and importance about Ottoman Thought. They will learn different ideas about Ottoman thought. Also they will learn the contributions of Ottomans to the Islamic Thought.

The success of student is being determined by reference to his or her performance of mid term, final exam and course performance.
