Course Objective

To examine relevant Turkish legislation, comparative law datas, international covenant provisions (especially European Convention on Human Rights and UN Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women), Constitutional Court decisions and other important judicial decisions and international supervisory mechanisms decisions by explaining subjects regarding human rights of women, equality between women and men and discrimination against women; in this context to emphasize necessity of equality of women and men in order to existing of real equality, human rights and democracy in a society.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To be able to determine problems at issues of human rights of women, gender equality, and discrimination against women.
2   To be able to generally have full knowledge of legislation, practice and judicial decisions at issues of human rights of women, equality of women and men and discrimination against women
3   To be able to analyse practice and legislation regarding human rights of women and gender equality.
4   To be able to probe developments in the field of human rights of women.
5   To be able to question the relationship between human rights of women and generally human rights law while having this course
