Course Objective

The aim of this course is to teach the characteristics of Byzantine culture and civilization.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Define the understanding of sovereignty in Byzantium
2   To comprehend Byzantine state institutions and military structure
3   To have knowledge about religion and church organisation in Byzantium
4   To be able to interpret the Byzantine economic characteristics
5   To be able to analyse the general characteristics of daily life in Byzantium
