Course Objective

The main interest of this course is the controversial issues in the interpretation of the Eastern values from the Western perspective and the process in which the Western societies have transformed other societies

1   The image of East from the Western viewpoint
2   The orientalism as a mean for political dominance as well as a cultural form
3   The characteristics of the Eastern way to identify East in which the Western perspective dominates
4   The effect of orientalism on the reflection of traditions such as coffee, harem, belly dancing, silk, and spice
5   The effect of orientalism on the Eastern intellectuals who support the Western transformation in their societies
