Course Objective

The primary goal of this course is to thoroughly examine the phenomenon of globalization that emerged after the 1980s and to deeply analyze its impacts on modernity, nation-states, and particularly Türkiye. Throughout the course, the reflections of the free market economy in Türkiye, the economic, social, and cultural challenges posed by globalization will be meticulously discussed; focusing on the internal developments within the European Union and the current state and future of Türkiye's relations with the EU. The course aims to enable students to understand the various dimensions of the globalization process and critically assess its effects on the dynamics between Türkiye and the international community.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To have detailed knowledge about globalization, modernity and nation-states.
2   To provide information on the characteristics of globalization, modernity and nation-states.
3   Recognition of international economic and security cooperation organizations.
4   To have knowledge about economic, social and cultural outcomes of globalization.
5   Analyzing the effects of globalization and modernity on nation state structures.
