Course Objective

aim of this course is to understand basic principles of tumor immunology, and to learn its role in cancer therapy. Future aspects of tumor immunology is planned to be tought.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Capable of understanding tumor antigens, mechanisms of immune responses to tumor, relationship of immune insuffuciency syndromes and cancer
2   Be able to understand properties of cytokines, B and T lymphocytes, NK cells, regulatory T cells, dendritic cells and their roles in tumor
3   Be able to identfy immunologic escape mechanisms of tumor cell
4   Be able to understand immunotherapy principles
5   Capable of doing laboratory work about immunology

Assessment Criteria

Learning outcomes will be evaluated with mid-term and final classical written long-answer questions. It will be reinforced with an assignment in the form of reading and summarizing 5 articles on tumor immunology in a certain type of cancer (eg malignant melanoma, colorectal cancer).
