Course Objective

To learn the basic concepts of the physiology of the urinary system, To understand the cellular mechanisms involved in the changes in kidney disease

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To understand the distribution of body fluids and the physiopathology of edema
2   To explain glomerular and tubular functions in urine formation
3   To be able to comprehend the mechanisms of concentrated urine formation and related disorders
4   To be able to understand the mechanisms of kidney regulation of electrolyte levels
5   To explain the mechanisms of control of acid-base regulation by kidneys
6   To be able to comprehend diuretics and mechanisms of action
