Course Objective

Providing the students with basic principles and theories of semiotics and with necessary theoretical knowledge about application areas of semiotics on an expert-level; and making students apply their knowledge.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Being able to understand the basic principles and concepts of semiotics.
2   Being able to perceive semiotics as a method in generating the meaning .
3   Perceiving the role of semiotics to explain the meaning of human for human and the meaning of universe for human.
4   Being able to understand the basis of literary semiotics.
5   Being able to understand the basis of visual semiotics.
6   Being able to understand the basis of semiological discourse analysis.
