Course Objective

The aim is to familiarize the students with the principles of structural linguistics, functional linguistics, cognitive linguistics and corpıs linguistics and teach them to think critically about the phenomenon of theory formation..

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   .define the basic concepts related to applied linguistics
2   develop an awareness of English as a linguistic system and of related sub-disciplines
3   gain intellectual skills demonstrating the ability to devise, research and communicate analyses of the topics
4   gain professional skills demonstrating the ability to articulate systematic knowledge of the field
5   gain skills demonstrating the ability to make judgements according to the available evidence
6   .have the ability to communicate ideas and findings by applying the academic style of a paradigm
7   have the ability to critique the various models, theories and research findings within the field
