Course Objective

To comprehend music theory on advanced level.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Demonstrate main concepts of music forms and harmony.
2   Explain various music forms and chord designs according to their principal aspects.
3   Recognize non-harmonic tones used in Baroque, Classic and Romantic periods.
4   Assess structural designs and tonal degrees of chords that involve multiple non-harmonic tones.
5   Analyse the place and importance of the smallest formal and harmonic unit within the whole design.
6   Interpret the effects of functional harmony on the overall design of works.
7   Analyse all chord types, altered chords, non-chord tones, secondary dominants and modulations.
