Course Objective

The relation of mental health and religion have been researched and discussed for a long time in different cultures. To understand the essence of this relation has taken attention in vary of disciplines today such as psychology, religious psychology, psychiatry. The aim of this class is; to give sufficient information to the students about how the mental health-religion relation occurs; and to show this, the scientific results, some issues and main views about mental health, religion and religiousness that is the living form of religion, will be mentioned; therefore, students will be able to approach in different angles to the religion de facto. By all these, students are expected to approach to mental health problems in society healthier and more realistic especially when with their attitudes in and suggestions for solving these problems.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   They will learn the terms mental health, religion, religiousness, etc.
2   They will be able to understand the relation between mental health and religion in different angles.
3   They will be able to explain the relation between mental health and religion in different angles.
4   They will be able to interpret the relation between mental health and religion in different angles.
5   They will be able to help people in understanding their mental health problems.
