Course Objective

The objective of this course is to understand Europe s religious history, the reasons and results of the religious differences, the progress of the relations between religion and politics from past to today, the role of these differences and similarities between EU countries, Church and EU relations, discussions of other religions and Islam in EU countries. In sum, understanding the role and impact of religion in European integration.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To understand the history and character of religion-politics relations in general,
2   To understand the historical progress of Church-State relations,
3   To understand the role and impact of the religion on EU integration,
4   To understand the basic religion related challenges in EU countries,
5   To understand how religion and state relations had an impact on the EU enlargement.

The lecture will be carried by research and discussions related to the subject, besides classical lecture which is given by the lecturer. Lecture, discussion, group study.
