Course Objective

This course aims to reevaluate the theories of European integration in terms of current developments within the European Union.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Show a comprehensive understanding of the main theories of the European integration process
2   Evaluate current developments within the scope of theories of European integration.
3   the ability to operationalize and apply a theoretical perspective to a particular policy area of European integration through preparing a research paper

The course is based on lectures. Prior to each lecture, students should have completed the relevant readings and have taken down notes for class discussion. A seminar paper will also be prepared by the end of the course.

Assessment Criteria

1. The learner will be fully prepared to discuss reading assignments and cases.
2. The learner will be able to prepare and present a research paper based on application of an integration theory to a particular policy related to European integration.
3. The learner will demonstrate sufficient knowledge on the historical context, institutions and decision-making of economic and political development of European integration.
