Course Objective

The aim of the course is to discuss the European Union s policies towards the Balkans and the Middle East with its main lines, with references to political, economic and cultural impacts. In this context, the course of the European Union's Stabilisation and Association Policy, Mediterranean Partnership, the Neighbourhood Policy, as well as the political and economic development of the regions in question is detailed with cases. In addition to that, the course with the involvement of its historical background, look at the recent political developments in these areas.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Specialize in the EU's foreign policy towards the Balkans and the Middle East
2   To be capable of analysing the EU s policies on the region with references to political, cultural and economic aspects.
3   To be aware of the historical background of the policies.
4   To be capable of analysing the current issues in the regions from a European Union perspective.
