Course Objective |
The main purpose of the course is to provide the student with in-depth knowledge of the historical fundamentals of modern Europe, paving the way towards a comprehensive understanding of the ongoing European Integration. For this purpose, following a conceptual introduction, the major events that led to the emergence of Europe as an idea/ideal will be reviewed. Upon this background, the turning points of the European history from the Early Modern period up until the foundation of the European Union will be studied in detail. |

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods |
The course is based on lectures. Prior to each lecture, students should have completed the relevant readings and have taken down notes for class discussion. A seminar presentation will also be prepared by the end of the course. |
