Course Objective

To propose a historical research in contemporary art scene in Türkiye. Starting to discuss with primary examples of art practice since 1970 until the end of 1990s and make a reading of overview on the main currents in contemporary art.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   1. Student will see the first artworks and gain awareness of the process of artistic practice on contemporary art scene in Türkiye.
2   2. Student will be able to discuss contemporary art practice within the social and political developments in Türkiye.
3   3. Student will be able to make observations and multi layered readings over the interdisciplinary structure of contemporary art practice.
4   4. Student will evaluate the pioneer studies in contemporary art theories and will be able to interpret and critique them.
5   5. Student will have the skill to make projections to comprehend historical cultural sources of recent contemporary art scene in Türkiye.
