Course Objective

In every field of industry, there have been dust problems and hence, dust control applications. The importance of understanding the concept of dust is revealed with respect to occupational health and safety point of view. In this course, the definition of dust, formation of dust in different fields of industry, fighting against dust, dust related diseases will be discussed under cause and effect relation aspects. The laws, regulations and control plans will be defined and discussed.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To determine the definition, characteristics and classification of dust with its formation mechanism
2   Determining industrial scale dust measurements and evaluate the boundary values with respect to hazard level
3   Getting familiar with dust control methods and fields of application
4   Determining dust related occupational health diseases and learning protection methods
5   Getting familiar with regulations related to dust and managing risk assessments
