Course Objective

Within the context of this course, it is aimed that the receptor theory, characterization methods of membrane receptors, localization of receptors in tissue and cells, ligand binding kinetic, cell membrane receptors, intracellular and intercellular signal transduction will investigated in detail.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Produce an ideas about receptor theory and characterization methods of membrane receptors,
2   Produce an idea and develop a strategy about ligand binding kinetic.
3   Produce an idea about the cell membrane receptors.
4   Gain knowledge about intracellular and intercellular signal transduction.

4 Determination of dissociation constant of antagonists, Determination of the its effectiveness
5 Stereoselectivity and Stereoisomer Effective Components on the Interactions with Membrane Receptors Ligands
6 Localization of receptors in the tissues and cells
7 Ligand Binding Kinetics: Saturation experiments; Scatchard-curve; Hill-curve
8 Midterm Exam
9 Ligand Binding Kinetics: The inhibition effect; Eady-Hofstee curve; Experimental kinetic applications
10 Cell Membrane Receptors: Structure of cell membrane; Phospholipid-glycolipid; Stern, Structure models of biological membranes, Lipids and membrane receptors, Interactions, Biosynthesis of membrane receptors; The cage movement of membrane receptors; Down Regulation
11 Determination of molecular structure of the receptor: Solubilization of membrane receptors in natural conformation, The interaction of membrane lipids with detergents; Isolation of membrane receptors, Membrane receptors and antibodies
12 Intracellular Signal Transduction: Basic Principles of Signal Conduction, G-proteins, c-Nükelotid system; Guanilatsiclase, Catabolism of c-nucleotides, c-nucleotides connection between cells, Ca + + system; phosphoinositide system

Assessment Criteria

Meaningful learning of the basic concepts given in presentations, association of concepts with each other, establishing the cause-result relationships and making comments by using the information available for problems and evaluating idea generation are carried out with mid-term, final and resit exams, active participation to the lecture, homework.
