Course Objective

The rules of sampling for physico-chemical, chemical, biological and microbiological analysis in environmental laboratories according to the occupational health and safety and hygiene, realization of occupational health and safety during transport of samples, accepting of samples, and during the analysis in the lab, the rules of hygiene
General Laboratory safety, labeling and transferring of chemicals, MSDS form of dangerous and non-dangerous chemicals, noise control in laboratory, control of chemicals in laboratory air, illumination of laboratories, temperature and humidity measurement in laboratory, informations for electrical hazards and prevention rules,latex allergy,biosafety cabinets and chemical fume hoods

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To learn the sampling procedures for physico-chemical, biological and microbiological analysis according to the occupational health and safety requirements, to learn controlling the risks during sampling
2   The learn the risks and their control measurements during sample storage and analysis procedures,
3   To learn the general principles of laboratory safety,
4   To learn the prevention rules of dangerous chemicals and the biological agents,
5   To learn the occupational health and safety in laboratory, to learn the noise control , to learn the threaths from chemicals,laboratory temperatures and humidity, safety cabins
6   To learn the preventive rules during the use of sterile cabinets and fume hudes, getting information on electicity accidents and allergenic circumstances for occupational health of lab workers

2 Transporting of samples, acceptance of samples and performing of analysis
3 Occupational health and safety Rules required by TURKAK accreditation in environmental laboratories
4 The storage and disposal of samples after the analysis
5 Maintaining of quality control of environmental laboratories
6 General rules maintaining the safety of the laboratories
7 Preparation of MSDS OF THE hazardous chemicals used in the laboratories,GENERAL RULES TO MAINTAIN THE safety of the laboratories
8 MIDTERM EXAM I
9 Prevention rules to overcame the noise in the laboratory
10 MIDTERM EXAM II
11 Hygien in laboratory, biosafety cabinets and chemical fume hoods
