Course Objective |
Algea have constituted approximately one third of the world's plant biomass. They extremely rich in carbohydrate, protein, fatty acid and the pigment contents have the possibility of great use in food, pharmaceutical and medicine. They are utilized as organic fertilizer in agricultural areas as well as consuming nutrients in especially developing countries. The large scale and economical productions of microalgea for biotechnological studies are of great importance. The aim in this course is to represent the biotechnological importance, production stages and biochemistry of microalgea. |

Assessment Criteria |
Meaningful learning of the basic concepts given in presentations, association of concepts with each other, establishing the cause-result relationships and making comments by using the information available for problems and evaluating idea generation are carried out with mid-term, final and resit exams, homework and presentations. |
