Course Objective

The main objectives of the course are to introduce the biotechnology methods for the bioconversion and recovery of the wastes, principles of the bioconversion , the characteristics of the main groups of the waste materials like agricultural, metal ,pulp and paper , and specific technologies for the bioprocessing and the production of the valuable products. The problems and advantages of the bioconversion, the product arising from the operation, trends and future possibilities are discussed.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Identify the main groups of the waste materials suitable for bioconversion
2   State the types of the valuable products that can be produced from waste materials
3   Distinguish specific technologies for the bioprocessing and the production of the valuable products
4   Diagram the flow schemes for production of useful products from waste materials
5   Design bioprocesses for bioconversion of waste materials.
