Course Objective

Bioenvironmental engineering is the applications of bioprocesses in environmental engineering. Recent advances in aerobic and anaerobic treatment of wastewater will be covered. Modifications of activated sludge, trickling filter, rotating biological contactor and fluidized bed systems will be emhasized. Design and optimization of advanced wastewater treatment systems constitute the major part of the course. Example problems will be presented and term projects will be assigned.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Define knowledge of processes for advances in bioenvironmental engineering
2   Design processes, as well as to analyze and interpret data
3   Apply knowledge of mathematics, science and engineering
4   Integrate engineering and biological sciences to develop systems and processes
5   Identify formula and solve engineering problems
