Course Objective

This is a unique course for engineering students on air pollution control. It focuses primarily on control of particulate matter emissions. Control of gaseous pollutants such as sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxides is also included. This course does not require a prerequisite, engineering background is sufficient.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To know the basic characteristics of particles
2   To know the basic particulate matter control principles
3   To be able to design particulate matter control devices based on gravitational and centrifugal forces
4   To be able to design the particulate matter control devices based on electrical forces
5   To be able to design the particulate matter control devices based on filtration and scrubbing
