Course Objective

The main objectives of the course are to introduce the statistical experimental design
methods, basic principles of performing the experiments and to describe the methods
used in the analysis of the data and in evaluation of the experimental results. The
basic statistical terms and calculations are defined and utilization of them in
experimental design methods are given. The application of the statistical experimental
design methods in main research areas of Environmental Engineering like biological and
chemical treatment of wastewater are discussed with the examples from the literature.

2   State the types of the statistical experimental design methods
3   Describe the statistical methods used in the analysis of the data and in evaluation of data
4   Select the most suitable statistical experimental design method for the purpose
5   Develop conclusion about the statistical analysis of the experiments.

Environmental Engineering are discussed with the examples.

Students will prepare a homework after each experimental design method explained. At
least 8 homeworks will be prsented in a term.
