Course Objective

The complexity in the analysis of spatial events has recently been facilitated by the introduction of a new technology called the geographical information systems (GIS). GIS are computer based systems which permit the presentation of various types of spatially distributed inputs and outputs to and from physical system. GIS can be effectively integrated with basin simulation models so that they perform as effective management tools. This is due to the fact that different management scenarios may be evaluated via model-GIS integration to arrive at optimum decisions.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To classify GIS-based approximations to water resources proeblems
2   To compare spatial issues in water resources management
3   To choose best GIS management in water resources management
4   To interpret the role of the GIS in water resources management
5   To relate theoritical knowledge to GIS&Water Resources Management
