Course Objective

This course aims to improve the knowledge of the graduate students about the applications and mechanical analysis of marine composites in hull structure and to give them interpretation skills.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To appreciate properties of modern composite materials and factors which determine their use for marine applications
2   To demonstrate understanding of composite mechanics, fracture and failure mechanism as applied to simple component design
3   To demonstrate understanding of the factors involved in selecting composites manufacturing method
4   To apply understanding of composite theory to simple component design
5   To appreciate software related to the marine composite design and manufacturing
